I am first generation in America from parent who were born in the Ukraine and Germany.  Often times even having one parent born in the former Soviet bloc or Europe would be odd, both is very unusual when one considers I am 61.  I have one sibling five years older than myself.
 
I am the mother of two grown daughters, one lives in CO and the other in VA, the younger has blessed me with 6 grandchildren, 4 girls and 2 boys.  So far this means we can field just about any sport other than football and baseball! I am also the human mother to 8 cats, at this point in my life I am not certain which is harder to raise, 2 children or 8 cats.  I think the children, the cats do not talk back to me with anything other than sweet meows.  I am happily married to Bob, who is just separating from the military, he will now enter his professional life as a civilian federal employee. Post military he always let me know that he would grow a beard, I am not certain I like him in a beard but it is his face, he does not critique my makeup I will not critique his beard.
 
For 30 years I worked as an interpreter, beginning in October 2009 I began a new career as a recruiter for the IRS.  I truly enjoy this career move, I am an extrovert to say the least, fully enjoy being around people of all ages, I now have the opportunity to meet and greet individuals from many professions. 


It would be a delight to assist others on GDW seek employment with the IRS, we are not all accountants!

I was born in the famous little league town called Williamsport.  Beginning of my pre-teenage years I moved near Pittsburgh the famous football town of the Steelers.  I’m a hard-core Steelers football fan.  I graduated from Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in 2003.  After that I went straight to Gallaudet University where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Psychology; then I went into the graduate program at Gallaudet where I obtained my School Counseling and Guidance Master of Arts degree. 
 
Here’s a brief history of my involvement with WPSD, Gallaudet University and right now.  During my days at WPSD; I was involved with so many organizations and sports here are some of what I was involved with: (i.e. Junior National Association of the Deaf – I was the president for two years, Girls Athletic Association, volleyball, basketball and track.)  Then when I was in Gallaudet; I was involved with different committees, organizations, and jobs on campus – here are some of what I was involved with: (i.e. Class of 2007, 30 hour famine, worked different positions in the dormitory, worked at Career Center, and played one year basketball.)  Currently, right now I am involve with Gallaudet University Alumni Association of Riverside Chapter; I am on the scholarship committee and am the secretary for the 50^th Anniversary Banquet.  This is a brief summary of my many involvements with the school, university and the community.
 
I’m currently resided in Southern California in Moreno Valley in Riverside County.  I’ve been applying to different jobs all over in the area and hopefully one day I will get a job soon.

She was born in Russia. Her family decided that future for Maria and her big brother would be better in foreign countries, so they moved to Germany first, and then relocated to Norway, we still are living there now. Her interests are translating between her favorite languages Norwegian, English and Japanese, also enjoying reading books, writing short stories and poems, and much more. She is still studying Japanese and English at University of Oslo and will graduate in December 2010. She has studied Japanese language in Japan (Chiba prefecture) from September 2008 to February 2009. It was a refreshing experience and she would like to work there sometime.
